Arrival in Leh

Leh - old town with stupas, mud-brick houses, palace & fort. Bazaar with shops, bars, restaurants. Relax to acclimate to high altitude. Visit Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace. Walk to the local market. Overnight stay.

Tour of Hemis, Thiksey & Shey monastery

After breakfast, we drove to visit Hemis Monastery situated 45 kilometers west of Leh; Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, you are driven back taking the same route to visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After that we continue to drive through a series of chortens to visit Shey Palace, the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Dinner and Over Night at the Hotel in Leh.

Drive over (Khardungla Pass) - Nubra Valley and Hundur Sand Dunes (160 km/approx 5 hours)

Hemis, largest & richest monastery in Ladakh. Thiksey has huge Maitreya statue & prayer books. Shey Palace, former summer palace. Overnight in Leh.

Full day leisure at Nubra

After breakfast, enjoy full day leisure at Nubra. Overnight in Nubra.

Drive back to Leh through Lakes and Diskit Monastery

Diskit monastery with valley views. Village market & Buddha statue. Tour Samsthaling, Panamik & Yarab Tso Lake with Karakoram views. Ancient trade route via Panamik. Cross Khardung La Pass back to Leh. Overnight stay.

Drive to Pangong Lake (225 km/approx 6 hours)

Pangong Lake at 14,500ft via Changla Pass, world's 3rd highest motorable road. Highest saltwater lake spanning India & China. Stunning scenic beauty, meditative silence, ever-changing colors. Stay overnight in camps by the lake.

Pangong to Tsomoriri (330 km/approx 9 hours)

After breakfast, visit the breathtaking Tsomoriri Lake via the remote Changthang plateau. Drive through isolated roads to this alpine lake situated at 14,836 ft (4,511 m) above sea level. On the way, stop by the village of Chushul. Tsomoriri Lake spans 35,000 acres (140 sq km) with beautiful mountain shadows reflecting on its surface. Stay overnight in comfortable tented cottages along the lakeshore.

Tso Moriri to Leh (225 km/approx 6 hours)

After breakfast, drive back to Leh and check-in at the hotel. Spend evening at leisure or explore the colorful bazaars of Leh city. Dinner and overnight stay in Leh.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Leh airport for a return flight.

Best Time To Visit

Leh & Ladakh is a precious possession of India. It is a pristine and untouched beauty of nature. Summer is the best time to visit Leh Ladakh. Maximum temperature in summer generally reaches about 30 degrees Celsius. However, winters are not recommended to consider, because thick snow sheets lead to inaccessibility of roads.
